How Do I Know What I Need, Or Even If I Need It?

There are basically two ends of the planning spectrum - coordination , also called wedding management, and full-service planning.

A couple may decide to take on all the planning, vendor contracts, budget management, and design of their own wedding, but might need advice or have questions along the way. And every wedding needs someone to actually execute their plan the day of their wedding.

A COORDINATOR acts as a consultant. They help plan timelines, arrange final details with vendors and serve as their point-of-contact. They organize and execute day of the wedding. Many also organize and lead the rehearsal. Coordinators do not get involved in event design.

Can't I just ask a family member or friend to do it?

Sure… you CAN. Lots of moms even insist on taking this on. But to do so… to ask a family member to take on this responsibilty… is also asking them to WORK on your wedding day. They will miss out on the special memories that the rest of the family will simply enjoy.

I am a wedding planner and coordinator. It's what I DO! BUT… I still had a day of coordinator for our daughter's wedding. That was my day to just be mom… Mother of the Bride.

A FULL-SERVICE WEDDING PLANNER does it all. They assist couples with choosing vendors and negotiating contracts, managing a budget, designing details and floorplans, all while also doing everything a coordinator will do. They work closely together to bring every detail of the couple's dream to life.

I don't need all that. It's too expensive! I can do it.

Again, sure… you CAN. I mean I can tweak around with wrenches on pipes trying to fix a leaky pipe too, but hiring a plumber might ensure I don't flood my house and wind up costing myself more money.

If you view it as an investment, the same as any professional, in any field you contract, you hire them to do the job right. An investment that takes the burden off of you and puts it in the hands of the pros, taking care of any glitches that may arise. And often… believe it or not… a wedding planner’s expertise can save you money,
